Lingfield Road, Manchester

A project working with One Manchester Housing Association

This area that One Manchester asked us to develop was almost a blank canvas, with the exception of the central football goal ends. Surrounded by many homes, the space holds great potential to become a vibrant social hub where children can stay active and play safely. By adding new play features alongside the existing goal area, we’ve helped create an engaging, welcoming environment that encourages children to spend more time outdoors, build friendships, and enjoy a sense of community right on their doorstep.

What better way to boost play potential than by introducing a challenging, active assault-style course... The generous space allowed us to create a substantial area where children can put their skills to the test, racing against their own time or competing with friends in a spirit of healthy competition. As they navigate the course and tackle each piece of equipment, they build strength, balance, and confidence, all while having fun and staying active in a safe, exciting environment.

The area features:

  • Steel Balance Beam
  • Steel Balance Rope Bridge
  • Steel Triple Pull Up Bars
  • Steel Stilt Walk
  • Steel Balance Rope Walk
  • Steel Sit Up Bench Unit
  • Steel Parallel Bars
  • Steel Stepping Pods
  • Steel Monkey Bars

To compliment the area we added bespoke HDPE post mounted motivational signs along the course including a 'sprint to stop the timer' to lead the children to the right spot and keep them on track as they make their way to the post mounted solar stopwatch timer panel

As part of this large space, there was an existing pathway, which we’ve enhanced to create a welcoming viewing area. This space gives parents and guardians a comfortable spot to watch their children play safely and confidently. It also offers children the option to step away from active play if they’d like a quieter moment to relax. They can enjoy the rotor maze play panel or 4 in a row panel providing opportunities for gentle, interactive fun with friends or family in a calmer area of the space.
