What was once a tired and uninspiring outdoor space is now a vibrant, engaging environment designed to encourage creativity, physical activity, and social interaction for the children and teachers at Primary Primary.
We created a variety of zones for the children to play, explore and learn within...these areas include:
A bark & sleeper retained area with a Story tellers chair, 4x log seats and wall mounted Concave and Convex mirrors, — to create a magical space for group storytelling, imaginative play, and sensory exploration. The setup encourages children to develop key communication and listening skills as they take turns sharing stories and engaging with others.
This space is designed to spark creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Featuring a construction skip, a hands-on construction bench, a pulley system, circuclar picnic table and durable resin mulch surfacing underneath, this area gives children the tools to explore real-world building concepts through imaginative play. As they lift, move, and assemble materials, children develop fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness.
This sensory-rich environment designed to ignite imagination and hands-on learning. Enclosed with charming timber picket fencing and welcome sign, the space invites children into a world of messy, meaningful play. Equipped with a sturdy Mud kitchen 3, a practical mud box for storage, and a timber table with 6 log seats, this area encourages role play, creativity, and collaboration. As children mix, pour, and experiment with textures, they build fine motor skills, develop language and communication through shared play, and gain early science and maths understanding through measuring and sorting.
The physical play elements offers an exciting and active space where children can develop strength, coordination, and imaginative skills. Featuring a tarmac role play car track with soft artificial grass at its centre, along with a tyre traverse and zig-zag balance beams, this zone promotes both physical development and creative exploration. As children navigate the track, they engage in role play that enhances social interaction, communication, and understanding of the world around them. The tyre traverse and zig-zag beams challenge balance, core stability, and gross motor skills, encouraging risk-taking and perseverance in a safe and supportive environment. This well-rounded space helps children build confidence, teamwork, and a love for active play.
Creative play extras: Timber stage with mural, Water Wall and a Double sandbox.
