A project working with One Manchester Housing Associaton
This is Bramfield Walk, Manchester before we came in and transformed the area. The play area is situated in a courtyard type way in the centre of surrounding houses. The equipment was worn and was in need of a much needed refresh for the children to enjoy the space.
We installed a lower-level climbing unit in the space to create an engaging and accessible play experience for children of different ages and abilities. This unit includes a platform area with a balcony-style caged side for safety and imaginative play, a sheltered space for socialising, a slide, a rope bridge, and interactive panels to encourage exploration and learning. By offering a variety of activities in one structure, the climber promotes physical development, social interaction, and creative play. It’s a fantastic addition that makes the space more inviting and enjoyable for the surrounding community.
We wanted to maximise play opportunities whilst staying within budget. We accomplished this through the addition of a variety of play panels, which children can enjoy together with their friends and families, including a Tangle Panel, Formula Racing Panel and a classic Tic-Tac-Toe Panel. Each designed to encourage social interaction. Play panels are a great choice because they’re accessible and enjoyable for a wide range of ages and abilities, promoting teamwork and inclusive play for the community.
Also in the area is a Rocket Springer which complements the play panels and climbing unit. It's gentle bouncing motion helps stimulate physical development, improve balance, and provide sensory regulation, making it a fun and beneficial addition for children.
We’ve added thermo-plastic line markings to the area as a budget-friendly way to introduce more play opportunities without compromising on fun or engagement. These durable markings are a smart choice when working within a strict budget, offering interactive play that encourages physical activity and learning.
We’ve included a hopscotch design to promote movement and number recognition, alongside a large bright compass marking that sparks curiosity and can be used for teaching directions and spatial awareness.
Lastly to mention in the area is the tangle line markings which is of course paired with the tangle play panel and is a playground favourite and encourage children to play together.
