April 2023

Eccleston St Mary’s primary school is a community school located in the heart of Eccleston village in St. Helens. The school contacted us for our help with the redevelopment of a few of their outdoor areas, that needed some TLC. There were a total of two areas that they wanted to start off with. One to be transformed into a garden/ seating area and the other to include some sort of physical play.

The redevelopment of the playground will be carried out in two stages. The first stage will involve the removal of any existing equipment and the preparation of the ground. The second stage will involve the installation of all the new equipment.

For the garden seating area, the aim was to create a peaceful and calming space for children to relax and socialize.  At the entrance to the new garden space, we designed a bespoke archway that included Timber Picket Fencing, a Post Mounted Welcome Sign, trellis and two Timber Planters either side. Also included in the area are a variety of planters, some with trellis, others with benches and a pottering table for children to develop their green thumb skills.

Now for the physical play. The school wanted to make better use of a current unused space and to provide a variety of opportunities for physical play development. The area now includes a long Timber Traverse Wall and  Parallel RopesPost Mounted Benches and a Tree Seat. The space has been finished off with Artificial Grass surfacing to enable access in all weathers.

The redevelopment of the playground areas at Eccleston St Mary’s primary school provide a safe and exciting space for children to play and socialize. The addition of a garden seating area will provide a calming space, while the physical play area will provide a variety of opportunities for keeping active.

We have seen lots of wonderful photos of the children loving their new and improved equipment on the schools social media, which is always so lovely to see 🙂
